THE CRISIS MANAGEMENT TRAINING CENTRE (CMTC)
The mission of the CMTC is "to educate and train selected personnel in command, staff, operational and logistic procedures on crises management, special operations and combating terrorism".
Currently the CMTC runs the following courses:
A. ADVANCED JOINT OPERATIONS STAFF OFFICER COURSE (AJOSOC):

- Course length - 13 weeks.

Aim: "to prepare Romaniain and international mid-career officers and civilians to (1) critically apply a multinational thinking at operational level of war; (2) originally design operational ideas for joint multinational operations; (3) skillfully apply operational art in warfare scenarios and to (4) aptly perform staff tasks in multinational headquarters"

Attendance: up to 24 officers and civilians, including 6 foreign students.
Duration & Capacity.
- The course is a total of 13 weeks in duration and based on 5 phases of study broken down as follows:
- Phase 1 - Strategic and Operational Leadership- 1 week.
Phase 2 - Foundation Studies- 2 weeks.
- Phase 3 - Joint and Multinational Operations- 9 weeks (including 1 week Staff Tour).
- Phase 4 - Final Evaluation- 1 week.
- Optional - English Refresher Training.
Maximum capacity on the course will be 24 students in 2 syndicates of 12, although the maximum course capacity can be raised to 36 if demand requires.

Program.
- Instructional periods are between 0800-1400hrs, Mon-Fri, and teaching is based upon:
- Preparatory readings.
- Central presentations.
- Syndicate room discussions, including Socratic Seminars.
- Practical exercises.
- The balance between central presentations, syndicate room discussions and practical exercises, by percentage of the total course content, is shown below. The significant percentage in favor of syndicate discussions and forums with visiting lecturers reflects the need for students to discuss and analyses a wide variety of subjects affecting defence issues in general as well as joint and multinational operations, then they have the opportunity to put them in practice:
- Central presentations 25%.
- Syndicate discussions 30%.
- Practical exercises 45%.
Attendance prerequisite.
Students from the Army, Navy and Air Force attending the course, both national and foreign, should ideally hold the rank of Major to Colonel (or their equivalent in the other Services), with the potential for filling demanding staff appointments and graduates of the equivalent of the Romanian Command and Staff College course.
English language proficiency required: Level 2.2.2.2.- Stanag 6001.
B) CRISIS MANAGEMENT COURSE
- Course length - 3 weeks
- Aim: "to train professionals who will serve in the broad area of crisis management and who will have to interact with national and international agencies involved in crisis management"
- Attendance up to 15 officers and civilians, including 5 foreign students.
- Selection criteria: Adequate English language proficiency 2.2.2.2 STANAG 6001; Basic IT skills; Army, Navy and Air Force officers, should ideally rank from Major to Colonel, or their civilian equivalents.

C). PEACE SUPPORT OPERATIONS (PSO) COURSE:
- Course length - 2 weeks
- Aim: "to give selected officers and civilians an understanding of the concepts, planning and conduct of PSO and to familiarise them with current staff procedures in order to enable them to work within or to a NATO led multinational Headquarters"
- Attendance: up to 20 officers and civilians.
- English language proficiency required: Level 2.2.2.2.- Stanag 6001.

D). NATO STAFF ORIENTATION COURSE (NSOC)
- Course length - 4 weeks.
- Aim: "to train the selected officers, NCOs and civilians on NATO, the Alliance's current political and military issues, as well as its command and staff procedures, in order to prepare them for NATO appointment" ".
- Attendance: up to 20 officers and civilians, NCOs and civilians.
- English language proficiency required: Level 2.2.2.2.- Stanag 6001.

E) CIVIL-MILITARY COOPERATION (CIMIC) COURSE
- Course length - 2 weeks
- Aim:“To give selected personnel, military and civilian from MoD establishment, an understanding of the concepts, planning and conduct of CIMIC activities in PSO environment and to familiarize them with current staff procedures in order to enable them to work within or to a NATO or coalition multinational Headquarters”.

F)
CRISIS MANAGEMENT AND EURO-ATLANTIC SECURITY COURSE – on-line
- Course length - 8 weeks
- Aim:“ To train professionals who will serve in the broad area of security policy and crisis management who will have to interact with national and international agencies involved in security and crisis management - related political and decision making. ”.

F) STABILITY, SECURITY, TRANSITION & RECONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS COURSE
- Course length - 2 weeks
- Aim:"To give selected personnel, military and civilian from EAPC, MD & ICI countries, including Romania, an understanding of the concepts, planning and conduct of SSTR operations in order to enable them to work within or to a NATO or coalition multinational Headquarters during stabilization operations".
- English language proficiency required: Level 2.2.2.2.-STANAG 6001
